Amy Keisinger, Registered Counsellor

Hi, I'm Amy. I'm glad you're here.

I'm a registered counsellor specialising in couples and relationship therapy, based in Corrimal, Wollongong, and serving people across the Wollongong area, Nowra, Jervis Bay, the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, as well as online, wherever you are in Australia.

My path into counselling began with a desire for meaningful work, supporting people through real, human struggles. Over time I worked in mental health, disability support, and crisis services, which gave me a deep appreciation for compassion, cultural awareness, and meeting each person where they are.

At its core, my work is about helping you step out of painful or repetitive cycles and into relationships, with yourself and with others, that feel authentic, fulfilling and resilient. I bring warmth, evidence-based practice, and a genuinely non-judgemental approach to every session.

Common questions about counselling in Wollongong

Individual sessions are $170 and couples sessions are $220. Each session is 50 minutes. Bupa health fund rebates are available for eligible members. Please check with your fund for your specific benefit amount. A limited number of concession spaces may also be available, so please reach out if cost is a concern.
Yes, absolutely. I offer secure online sessions for anyone in Australia, whether you're in Nowra, Jervis Bay, Shoalhaven, the Illawarra, or anywhere else in the country. Online counselling can be just as effective as in-person work, and offers the flexibility to fit around your schedule and location.
The first session is relaxed and low pressure. It's a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's brought you to counselling and what you'd like to work on. I'll also explain how I work and answer any questions you have. Many people feel a real sense of relief after the first session, simply from having shared their story in a supportive, non-judgemental space.
This depends entirely on your goals and circumstances. Some people attend for a handful of sessions focused on a specific issue; others prefer longer-term support. There's no pressure to commit to a set number upfront. We'll check in on your progress together and adjust the pace to suit you.
Yes. Everything you share in sessions is private. There are a small number of exceptions, such as if there are serious safety concerns or legal obligations, which I'll explain clearly in our first session. These situations are uncommon, and I'll always speak with you directly where possible.
It's completely normal to feel unsure. You don't need to be in crisis, and you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If something feels off, in your relationships, your sense of self, or your day-to-day life, that's enough of a reason to explore it. Reaching out doesn't commit you to anything, and I'm happy to have an informal chat before you decide whether to book.
